According to the results from a study performed by Japanese scientists sniffing lemon can help you to calm down when you’re stressed.

Linalool  - The Anti-Stress Fragrance

It’s a substance called linalool – a fragrant substance in lemons, mango, lavender, basil and some teas which calmed down some stressed animals which participated in the above mentioned study. These animals experienced lower levels of inflammatory chemicals in their blood, compared with another group of animals that didn’t smell the linalool. It was also inhalation of linalool that caused reduction of the activity of more than hundred genes, usually activated during stressful situations.
