Scientists have recently proven what most of us already knew – running, cycling or going to fitness is a great way to sink the level of “bad” cholesterol and to increase level of the “good” one.
According to the research paper published in several international medical publications 30 minutes of jogging or cycling a day is enough to prevent most of the cardiovascular diseases which are so common in the western world. One of the most important risk factors for heart stroke is also an increased level of so-called “bad” cholesterol - the LDL cholesterol.
Despite this fact your body also needs the “good” cholesterol, also known as HDL-cholesterol. This kind of cholesterol has actually a protective effect on blood vessels since it prevents building of plaques that can lead to narrowing of the blood vessels and stroke. Regular physical activity like running, jogging or cycling for 30 minutes a day can increase blood levels of “good” cholesterol by 10 percent among other beneficial effects like lowering the blood pressure and improving the elasticity of blood vessels. It also helps to prevents the origins of type 2 diabetes.
