Personal Development Academy – What is Leadership and How to Become a Leader?
If you thrive on motivating others, hinking creatively, guiding and inspiring people, you like to experiment with different approaches and make good, but intuitive decisions, you’re on the right way to become a leader. However, there is still a long way to go since true leaders are also know for their problem-solving skills and successful analytical approach.

What is leadership? Despite the stereotype leaders are usually made, not born. The most important prerequisition for a future leader is the true desire to lead and the skills to lead can be learned afterwards. Although it may seem very common used term, leadership doesn’t have a single and simple definition, but many agree that it’s the ability to inspire and enourage other people to overcome challenges, accept continuous change and set and achieve goals. It’s also an ability to build strong and effective teams and the process to persuade and steer others. Leader also has to be a strong example trough his/hers living, working and achieving results.

Leadership is not management. The main difference between leader and manager is in their approach to the work. Leader is someone who makes decisions and takes care for the right messages, while manager mainly implements strategies, measures performance and runs systems. Despite the differences between leader and manager, great leaders are usually also known as great managers. When you move into a role as a leader you won’t and can’t abandon managing altogether; to be credible as leader, you need to acknowledge the past and what is currently happening, at the same time as focusing on the future.
