Fitness is a Matter of Mind
The desire for regular fitness activity comes from the mind. People who believe in themselves during training are more motivated and therefore exercise regularly, shows a Canadian study.
Routine vs. Excuses
You probably know this scenario – you really plan the daily fitness routine, but there are always some excuses to postpone our skit the initially planned training session. As soon as your training routine isn’t regular anymore, the lazy ass in you has already won the battle for youy favor. That’s what Canadian Public Health Agency found out when interviewing 5167 men and women.
More Self-Confidence – More Strict Fitness Routine
During that telephone interview participants were asked, among other things, how confident they would be, if they would do three, four or five training sessions of moderate exercise a week. The better the respondents estimates themselves the more training session they did. The results were completely independent of age, gender and education. Participants were asked to provide information on their fitness intentions for for half a year in advance. The results were similar here – the greater the motivation was the more the participants actually train.

Self-Confidence Stimulates Motivation
“Confidence in their physical abilities plays an important role in the intensity and duration of physical activity,” say the researchers. So, you should remember that if you have a healthy dose of self-confidence, you’ll make better progress in your fitness. The fact is, self-confidence and motivation are much more connected with each other than you might think.
