2012 Jeep Compass Gets a New Face
Let’s face the facts – Jeep Compass desperately needed a facelift. And it happened – the smallest Jeep around, gets a new face for the new year.
Ugly Duckling – Swan Transformation
Compass was also known as the ugly duckling of Jeep’s showroom. With the new nose it transformed to a swan. The exterior design lines are similar to those of the new Grand Cherokee, and the hood, fenders, grille and hedlights are completely new. The off-road character is underlined with the black plastic strap around the car. Some chrome, specially on the grille, exhaust and roof rails gives a car leaner and more elegant appearance.
Better Materials and Central Armrest
There are also some better materials available for the interior – plastic now has a softer touch and the driver got his new center armrest. The steering wheel is also new, as well as the radio and cruise control operation.
Two or Even Three Engine Options
At the technical level, the handling is improved and engineers also retuned the suspension. Buyers will have the possibility to choose between two engines – the 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 158 hp and 2.4-liter engine with 172 hp. For the European markets they might also use 2.2-liter diesel engine with 163 hp that is quite well known from Dodge Caliber.
