No surprise here: Sony just officially announced the PlayStation Move motion controller at GDC 2010, calling it the “next generation of motion gaming” because it’s so precise — latency is about the same as the DualShock 3. As expected, it uses the PlayStation Eye camera to track the controller, and Sony says it becomes an “extension of your body.” The plan is not only to engage casual gamers, but to use the precision of the controller to create “new experiences for core gamers” — many of the demo videos we saw involved using a controller video in each hand, and there were quote a few demos of action / RPG games. We also saw a demo of Move Party, which uses the camera to do augmented reality gaming and video chat. The demos are pretty impressive — Sony’s not kidding when it says the Move is incredibly precise. There’s also going to be a secondary “subcontroller” with an analog stick for shooters — you can play all the way through SOCOM4 with just the Move and the sub-controller. (Yes, it’s just like the Wii Nunchuk, only wireless.)

You’ll be able to get Move in three ways: in a bundle with a PS3, standalone, and in a starter kit targeted at “under $100″ with the PS Eye, a controller, and a game. That’s all the pricing info we have right now, but it certainly sounds aggressive — Sony says they’re treating this like a major console launch, so expect to see this everywhere when it launches around the holidays.

When the 2006 Corvette Z06 was introduced, it represented the closest connection to the Corvette race cars ever. The 2009 Corvette ZR1 closed the gap between racing and production even further. This year, Corvette continues its tradition of track-to-street technology transfer with the 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition.

The Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition is another example of the expanded Corvette line-up. Five years ago, customers had the choice of a Corvette coupe or convertible. With the addition of the Z06, Grand Sport coupe and convertible and ZR1, Corvette enthusiasts now have more choices than ever.

This limited edition Z06 will boast Brembo carbon ceramic brakes with specific dark gray metallic calipers. These powerful brakes were first introduced on the ZR1. Black 20-spoke 19-inch front/20-inch rear wheels complement the car’s Michelin PS2 tires. Other mechanical features include Magnetic Selective Ride Control for the first time on the Z06 and enhanced cooling. The car also features a special carbon pattern engine cover.

The Corvette Z06 Carbon will be available in two colors: Inferno Orange and the all-new Supersonic Blue. Black headlamps and mirrors, a ZR1-style body color spoiler, body color door handles, carbon fiber raised hood, and black carbon fiber rockers and splitter enhance the Z06’s dynamic design and reduce mass and aerodynamic lift. For track events, customers can also install the Euro-styled racing numbers that come with each car.

An optional Z07 performance package that includes the mechanical upgrades introduced on the Z06 Carbon can be added to a regular 2011 Z06. This package also includes Competition Gray 20-spoke wheels and all the chassis and cooling upgrades.

The CFZ Z06 carbon fiber package includes black carbon fiber rockers, splitter and roof panel with the full-width body color spoiler. It can also be purchased with or without the Z07 package on regular Z06 models.

The 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition, as well as the new Z07 and CFZ Z06 option packages will be available in late summer.

“There is no one inside Porsche who doesn’t want to build the 918,” CEO Michael Macht was quoted as saying. “The response has been marvellous; we will ask buyers to sign letters of intent.”

Should it be given the green light the 918 Super Hybrid Spyder would go on sale within the next five years. The version shown at Geneva featured a V8 engine with three electric motors and a combined output of 528 kW (718 PS / 708 hp). As the new flagship model Porsche anticipates that it would be quicker around the Nurburgring’s Nordschleife than the iconic Carrera GT.

Many cyclists set their bike seats too low. But a tweak in your saddle height can boost your endurance. A new study from the University of Central Arkansas found that people who set their saddles so that their knees are bent at a 25-degree angle (from vertical) at the bottom of the pedal stroke felt less fatigued after a ride than those who set their saddles at other heights.

“Pedalling at this angle lets you use the least amount of energy for your work,” says study author Will Peveler, PhD, so you can ride farther before tiring out. Need help finding the proper angle? Visit your local bike shop. Many have fit experts on staff.

Utilizing computing power from 1.5 million devices networked through IBM’s World Community Grid, the new sites on the HIV protease are being used as docking targets for virtual screening experiments, in order to guide the development of these chemical compounds into a new class of potent HIV inhibitors.

Alongside the Ford Mustang V6 and its V8 brother Mustang GT there is the crowning glory of the series the wild Mustang Shelby GT500, which is equipped ex factory with 540 hp, an aggressive body and traditional double stripe paintwork. Anyone who remembers the American racing legend Carroll Shelby will be able to instantly imagine how uncompromising and purist the Shelby GT500 factory settings already are. The US car specialist Karl Geiger from Munich has now got its hands on this vehicle and take a look at how the upright Cobra has been transformed into an almost untameable monster!

810 hp, 945 Nm engine torque. As usual the engineers at GeigerCars.de from Munich operated on the open V8 heart of the American muscle car and in the process left no stone unturned. For more pressure they donated a 3.3 litre compressor to the 5.4 litre aluminium engine block which with its 1.6 bar supercharging pressure provides real fire in the forged crank drive. Larger throttle valves, a modified injection system, a 100 millimetre air flow meter and machined cylinder heads also guarantee that the inner organs are fine tuned. Additional coolers for charge air, coolant and engine oil ensure that the eight cylinder can always work at the perfect temperature range despite massively increased power.

Thanks to the massive changes the Geiger Mustang Shelby GT now generates a legendary 810 PS at 6,700 rpm, whereas the maximum engine torque of 945 Nm at approx. 4,300 rpm pulls on the increased differentials. Of course with so much engine torque the transmission also had to be reinforced and in the same step its 5th and 6th gears were shortened. A 3 disc carbon clutch produces smooth power transmission. A special manifold with racing catalytic converters and customized sport exhaust guarantee that exhaust gases are disposed of properly according to type.

High end chassis engineering. So that so much power can also be transformed in acceleration, GeigerCars.de fitted the Shelby with a special racing chassis as well as a Panhard rod made from chrome-moly steel including polyurethane bushes on the ends to balance the axial offset and new reinforced and adjustable trailing arms for improved rear axle directional stability. For the all-important contact to the asphalt surface four classic OZ alloy wheels in 8.5 and 10×20 inch guarantee adequate grip thanks to Michelin high performance tyres in 245/35ZR20 and 285/30ZR20. The upright Cobra is slowed down using 6 piston high performance brakes on the front axle with 380 millimetre large drilled or optionally slotted brake discs. Perhaps this Mustang Shelby version would also put the fear of God into the US racing legend Carroll Shelby!

Technical data

Engine: 5.4 litre eight cylinder V with modular compressor, Ford GT aluminium engine block, machined cylinder heads, modified injection system, larger throttle valves, sport air filter, 100 mm air flow meter, cold air box, aluminium rocker arm, forged crank drive, 3 disc carbon clutch, reinforced transmission with shortened 5th and 6th gears, increased differential, engine oil cooler, 3.3 l compressor with 1.6 bar supercharging pressure

In this article you can find all the most important tips for making offective Mind Maps according to NLP standards. This kind of mindmapping has became very popular in recent years since it really provides great learning results.

Example of a well prepared Mind Map.

Turn a large A4 (11.7″ x 8.3″) or preferably A3 (16.7″ x 11.7″), white sheet of paper on it’s side (landscape), or use a Mind Map pad.

Gather a selection of coloured pens, ranging from fine nib to medium and highlighters.

Select the topic, problem or subject to be Mind Mapped.

Gather any materials or research or additional information.

Start in the centre with an unframed image – approximately 6cm high and wide for an A4 and 10cm for an A3.

Use dimension, expression and at least three colours in the central image in order to attract attention and aid memory.

Make the branches closest to the centre thicker, attached to the image and ‘wavy’ (organic). Place the Basic Ordering Ideas (BOIs) or the ‘chapter heading’ equivalents on the branches.

Branch thinner lines off the end of the appropriate BOIs to hold supporting data (most important closest).

Use images wherever possible.

The image or word should always sit on a line of the same length.

Use colours as your own special code to show people, topics, themes or dates and to make the Mind Map more beautiful.

Capture all ideas (your own or others’), then edit, re-organise, make more beautiful, elaborate or clarify as a second stage of thinking.

Mind Map Laws

These are the brain-reflecting foundation structures of a Mind Map. The more of them you follow, the more effective your Mind Map.

Start in the centre with an image of the topic, using at least 3 colours.

Use images, symbols, codes and dimensions throughout your Mind Map.

Select key words and print using upper or lower case letters.

Each word word/image must be alone and sitting on its own line.

The lines must be connected, starting from the central image. The central lines are thicker, organic and flowing, becoming thinner as they radiate out from the centre.

Make the lines the same length as the word/image.

Use colours – your own code – throughout the Mind Map.

Develop your own personal style of Mind Mapping.

Use emphasis and show associations in your Mind Map.

Keep the Mind Map clear by using Radiant hierarchy, numerical order or outlines to embrace your branches.
